Take a look at the effect of statins on myelin, which is the protective sheath around nerve axons. One of the negative effects of reducing cholesterol -- especially brain cholesterol -- is the inhibition of remyelination of the central nervous system, which leads to various forms of cognitive impairment. Statins might save you a heart attack, but open you up to neurological disorders. Pick your poison.
