Thought this was quite interesting. Was doing my annual review for my website. The returns since each piece (in chronological order with losers in bold): INTC - 89% CMLS- 5% SKYW - 162% QRTEA - (2)% HMC - 16% PACW - (35)% PGRE - 22% CCL - 111% RTN.L - 30% HTLD - (6.5)% CLF - 39% CPRI - 28% ZUMZ - 34% (GTN - taken down) - 18% AVAP.L - 1.6% IHRT - (40)% GPS - 120% WWW - 3.5% WTI - (20)% FLWS - 65% CATO - (11)% LZB - 27% I haven't included my short piece on DKNG, ORCL (since I don't short anyway) or some of the more recent research and stock pieces. If this doesn't prove that value can be found in the market, I don't know what does (although, the period to resolve has been way quicker than I expected). My portfolio turned out nothing like this, though. In reality, I sold winners too quickly (with the exception of CCL twice) and pursued losers only to eventually cut the loss. But it's massively increased my hunger to win next year. I reckon a very good analyst can consistently make between 50-100% per year - and knowing what to avoid, that's my aim for next year. Even though Buffett's made this claim in the past, I never believed him because I had no evidence. (You know what happened after Bannister broke the 4 minute mile...) Lots to learn for next year and I'm spending this Christmas period to reflect on my losers and my portfolio management. Biggest mistake here is CMLS - could have easily made a profit. But I bought high and sold low out of "fear." Further, I've decided I'm only going to make 12 trades across the next 12mo but will continue to write about value. That includes adds, sells and buys. I'm also going to get my brother to change my password for my platform so I cannot be tempted to "alter" positions. Discipline sometimes has to be learned the hard way before you can trust yourself.
