I don't know how many Canadian banks we'll end up with when the dust settles, but I wouldn't argue too hard if you told me we'd be left with only two. Either Martin will fight hard for the status quo, or the government is going to have to spell out exactly what hoops the banks have to jump through and then just stand back. This being the 90s, my bet is on the latter.
