In Barron's last week they had a 2 page article on Buffet & silver, and (kudos to you) the only silver play they mentioned was Hecla. If you want leverage to silver though, look at SSRIF (or SSO). They have 163 mil oz of reserves & 15+ mil shares outstanding. Simply valuing reserves at $1/oz makes this an $11 stock, but it's only 4 5/8. Heavy liquidation of Canadian mutual funds at year-end are partly to blame. Fidelity seems to see what I see, as they took a 10.4% stake at the end of last week (warrants included), plus the company issued a bunch of options to employees only days before. This coincides with a rumored courtship. I think you can see why I'm jealous of the attention Hecla got. Fidelity likely to initiate coverage with a buy soon, & that should open the gates. You can investigate further at www.silver-standard.com. ID
