Sounds like a great doc. Nothing can make someone in stress feel a little better emotionally than doing something like that, especially the touch.

I think it's a great thing to do if you're visiting someone in a nursing home. And there are plenty of folks you'll pass by who you can tell could use a pat on the shoulder with a little friendly comment. It brightens them up right away.
