Happy New Year!

I watch gold, but don’t feel strongly about owning it. Holding a small position, and for now, not thinking much about it.

Those who bought the recent all time high are not happy campers, so far. The metal used the opportunity to pull back, quite sharply.

If you look at the ratio of Gold and SP500, there are no doubts what’s been a better holding. The ratio rallied up to the 2011 top - and is in a “bear” market since then.

Ratio

On the long term chart, the metal is still in the the resistance area. If it breaks out and it begins to look like an up trend, at some point it could be interesting. Also, note the bearish momentum divergences on the MONTHLY chart.
