I was talking about all myths, versus science.

Every religion, every belief that is not true, like the myths about women being inferior to males, which lasted all over the world until about 50 years ago and blood letting to heal the sick, etc.

Look at MAGA thinking covid shots are bad, not able to figure out civil rights, or how getting rid of guns would make us all safer, or trickle down economics, etc.

The great Will Durant wrote this introduction to his volume on the ancient Greeks.

: "The dominate quality of the Greek mind was its persistent effort to supplant myth to reason. Because whereas myths may change, reason remains the same for all people everywhere and for all time, and makes brothers of its lovers."

My favorite quote so I memorized it.

He saw the ancient Greeks were contemporary in their thinking, and they were pretty much alone in this aspect until modern times.

will assume you are referring to a biblical notion of Satan. A while back I started listening to talks by Bart Ehrman who has written many books on the New Testament. He was a born-again Christian but after finding many mistakes in the NT and questioning the suffering in the world, he became an atheist. He is currently a professor of Religious Studies at the UNC at Chapel Hill.
