That's a ridiculous statement. They can easily take 80% of the load of a class 8 truck.
Yeah, but at what cost?

EV Semis are incredibly expensive.

The range is less than half of a diesel semi.

They have lower towing capacity, due in no small part to their huge batteries.

Given the range, you have to charge an EV Semi twice per day, if you want a full day of driving. Each charge will take over an hour (just 45 minutes if you just want to change up to 80%, but then the range takes another hit and you probably won't get a full day of driving even with two charges.)

Right now, it makes no sense for the trucking industry to make the shift.

Maybe one day it will, but it will take some significant leaps in technology before that happens.

Stop pretending as if it's already viable.
