I'll need to get out my water station for the birds as their regular watering holes are likely to freeze up. We have a lot of feathery friends who hang out in our back yard because we have it set up to provide them food and cover.

Yesterday's storm has mostly blown inland, leaving just strong winds in it wake. There are still around 20k in southern BC without power, and some ferries have been cancelled. It is also recommended that travel through the interior highway passes be put off for at least a day if possible.

The Insurance Bureau of Canada released a report about 2023, detailing among other things how the Okanagan and Shuswap fires in August and September were the most expensive events for insurers in BC history.
