I still think Jazz drives and cartridges are more susceptible to the increasing competition than Zip. And don't forget Sony will be coming out with a competing product to the Zip. Tape drives sales are declining which should hurt Iomega's other products.<<

My opinion is that SyQuest should be as worried about Orb as Iomega should be about HiFD. Namely, not much. There is still no proof that Castlewood can even ship Orb, much less in quantity. Nor is there proof that Sony can ship HiFD. (Obviously, if Sony can ship HiFD at all, they'll be able to do it in quantity.)

But as far as I know, neither company has demonstrated a fully functional prototype. That puts them both pretty far away from shipping.
