Week two results: As opposed to last week’s “OK” results this week is definitely more exuberant. The NASDAQ composite (up +3.1%) managed to claw back most of the loss from the first week. Both biotech composites were in the black, and the YTD P/Loss are +$2.3k and +$1.3k for the NASDAQ and S&P composites respectively.

PMN was the big winner for this week, +103% of the original price. Paired with its second place result last week, it is in a dominant first place for the YTD performance (+120%). Again the only news was a letter from the new interim CEO to the stockholders that dropped Monday. Most of the increase was a very strong Friday. In second place for the week, (and also enough to net the YTD second place) ARDX, (+46%) also seemed to owe its gain to a general press release covering last year's good results, and outlining the strong possibilities for 2024. Letters seem to be even better than clinical trial results. And in third place, both for the week (+42%) and YTD (+38%), GRTS only news was the significant stock options offerings to two new employees.

For the losers, PACB and RVNC were tied, dropping -27% for the week. PACB’s drop was in spite of announcing record 4th quarter and yearly revenue. RVNC similarly produced strong revenue improvements. All five of the top five losers for the week filled the worst five YTD list as well.

SLGT completed its merger with Standard Biotools (LAB) accomplished with a share exchange, essentially a split of 1.11 post merger shares for 1 share of SLGT, and a change of symbol as the merged company will trade with the ticker LAB. Because SLGT dominates the market cap and contributes much of the biotech IP and products to the new company, the single portfolio that had selected SLGT will now have LAB as the replacement selection.

The portfolios generally had a great week, adding +$2.5k to their average value, and a median improvement of +$2.2k, overwhelming the anemic returns from the first week in showing a YTD gain of +$2.7k in the average. Thirteen out of the seventeen portfolios were in the black for the week, and twelve had a positive return YTD.

BULBAMAN was the top returning portfolio for the week, +$18k, moving up into the top YTD spot (+$21k). They were the only portfolio with a position in PMN, but that only accounted for $10k of the week’s return. Four other of their eight picks brought in at least $1.7k each. Only two of their selections were in the red, by a measly total of -$328. Second place portfolio for the week is RAJU_BIJLEE, +$9.3k, bumping JR_95 down a spot to fourth YTD. $4.6k of RAJU_BIJLEE’s gain was to some extent due to a position in ARDX, but again their net profit for the week really benefitted by strong, if not top-five outstanding, performances from most of their other picks, enough to cover the -$2.7k loss from RVNC. This was enough to rocket them from twelfth YTD to third (+$8.8k). Third place for the week was BLADERUNNER, +$6.9k, with not a single top five stock, but enough to take them from fifth to second YTD (+$9.4k). Fifth and seventh place returns for the week were enough to move DART LANZER from eleventh to sixth (+$4.1k), and TECHNETIUM from ninth to fifth (+$4.7k) YTD. TRACE I11 entered the YTD top performers at 7th place, and NOTABOT dropped two YTD places from sixth to eight.
