The substation that serves three Tesla Superchargers near where I live serve thousands and thousands of customers. Residential, Commercial and a huge shopping mall all at the same time.

Just one. And it is miles away!

Now there is a breaker on the step down transformer at each Supercharger location (stepdown transformer supplied by that local utility) that protects each individual transformer that feeds Supercharger cabinets. Stepped down to 440 VAC from 12,500 volts.

You need to study how the electrical distribution system actually works.
