Thanks Beeny. BTW, I have an ongoing battle with squirrels digging up my garden beds, requiring the deployment of chicken wire covers at certain times of the year.

Many years ago I worked in the oil patch in northern BC where we occasionally had to stop drilling when it hit -40, so I know my cold weather. Some of the effects, like ice halos and frost blooms, are pretty cool, but I can happily live without the rest of it.

They are now talking about 20-30cm of snow falling overnight in southwestern BC, depending on altitude and exact location. I will enjoy the snow-induced quiet when I wake up tomorrow morning, and then immediately begin looking forward to the rain washing it all away. The real key will be how much freezing rain we get, as it can be so destructive.

At least there is no sign of tornadoes....
