In fact I do eat a fair amount of fish when I can, sardines in spring water or olive oil when I can get them.
Grilled with a few herbs and vinegar on toast. Delicious.
Only I have to limit the amount I consume as the sea, on a global scale, is having millions of tonnes of coal waste being dumped into the oceans in the form of fine particulates and gases, from the burning of coal in particular.
From China, principally.
So, we are on the same side on that matter.
Now I am keen on improvements. real improvements. Its a complex problem but is solvable. Always open to suitable suggestions.
Keeping the world friendly, in conversation on matters even where we disagree strongly, is key to making orderly progress. On the other hand, hard military type solutions cause more pollution of all kinds.
One of my beefs is no one, or very few people (usually ex military) mention the pollution caused by the military in peacetime, never mind a war.
England, Scotland, Wales are chock a block with old coal tips btw. They are a concern.
Also, some of the people who really care about the planet, wildlife in particular, are Republican gun owning hunters. So it would be silly to cross them off as potential allies to meet good environmental targets and projects. I know this as I have hunted with them.
I like fishing. Only there are so few fish left, where I live, the remaining ones are like personal friends of mine. I am concerned about Sellafield, and the local military installations too. Some of the environmentalists around here don't have a clue on some of those matters. I inform them when I think it's prudent and something positive can maybe happen.
Yes, I have the risks evaluated into an order. Keep the perspective, do the "Pareto Analysis" and work on the top 20% of the problem. When those get fixed, the next worst 20%. It's an iterative process. Coal is up there, but there is no need to cause a war over it. That won't help. Nor bashing the USA pro coal community. They may be able to come up with the best answers. Next everything gets fixed and we are back to twiddling our fingers looking for something to do. Just a thought. |
