China spends its money and engineering talent on competing with us economically. We spend too much on our military. Can you imagine where we'd be if instead of subsidizing the oil industry with out military in the 50s, we had spent that money on developing solar and becoming energy independent? We would have ended up owning the energy market worldwide. I was against Detente with China and predicted at the time they'd defeat us economically without needing to fire a shot. No brainer.
