The Pacific fire hose is aimed straight at southern BC. It is forecast to deliver up to 300mm of rain, maybe 100mm here in Vancouver, but fortunately it will take 4-5 days over a series of storms so not threatening like the catastrophic atmospheric river a few years.

This is not to say there aren't a lot of flood and high river level advisories out. As we break high temperature records the next few days, the freezing level will rise as high as 3500m, which will melt a lot of the recent dumps of snow.

It's two-edged sword as to how it will affect the ongoing drought -- on the one hand, all this rain will recharge some water sources, on the other hand it will melt the snow pack we desperately need to keep the river and reservoir levels up in the summer.
