John,

There may be a little too much focus on this 3g W-CDMA stuff, almost replacing the original holy war that ERICY waged against QCOM/CDMA. I have to remind myself that no one, as far as I know, has made a dime off W-CDMA yet.

We can argue all day long whether QCOM's IPR can be circumvented or not. I am willing to bet that QCOM will get something for the rights. In addition, it is not as if QCOM is precluded from participating in whatever this W-CDMA is themselves. In comparison to the current status, with no penetration whatsoever in Europe, it seem to put QCOM in a no lose situation, just a matter of how much they will gain.

Then again, us QCOM investors may just be too biased.
