Hmmm You are burning more gasoline when you turn on your air conditioner. The refrigerant compressor uses a fair amount of mechanical energy your car engine has to supply. Sorry to tell you that. And ICE motors are very inefficient compared to electric motor driven ones! Just very simple, elementary physics at work. Less total energy consumption with BEV's vs fossil fueled ones! Much less.
