Mine is about 35 miles up the line and also a surgeon, but I have a good optometrist at the local VA 5 miles away. He spotted the drusen in the right eye.

the better I think than a doctor just shining a light and saying "yup!".

Last time my O doc took a look to check out the cloudiness I had (and still do) he said, "Not impressed." He recommended an MRI which I got. Nothing significant seen there either. Now this dark floater. However, it doesn't seem as large or well-defined as it was when it first appeared. Maybe the enzyme is working. I'm using a lot of it daily. I don't like capsules, and these are large. But since bromelain is pleasant tasting, I break them open and dump them out.

re. lysine - I've used it for canker sores, and about 28 years ago for Shingles. I don't get mouth sores much at all anymore since I changed my diet from S.A.D. to whatever you might say is the opposite. :) Never heard of it for floaters though, thanks for the tip.
