Many years ago, well, hell, really many years ago, when I was a grad student, I worked one term as an exam reader (why only one term?). Quite a number of ghastly little girls finished off their bluebooks with a smiley face. Most of 'em had done a terrible job. So I gave 'em appalling grades, followed by an unhappy face. As I said, I wasn't asked to do it again....
