This makes sense. Big pharma buys ads on big media, but not for the purpose of selling pharmaceuticals. Rather, they buy those ads in order to dominate big media. CNN, FOX, NBC, NYT, Facebook, etc, will squash stories that are critical of big pharma because they depend on that ad income. The ads have little to do with selling product.
