Doren,
I said it would be a stalemate attrition war on day one.
Really? You must have been the only one.

Everyone else thought that the war would be an asymmetrical battle between the 2nd largest conventional army in the world and a huge population of partisans.

Even the initial military aid was in the form of RPGs, Javelins, NLAWs, and mortars.

Later, when PooTin's three-day march to Kyiv failed, that's when the war became a "near-peer" conflict.

Even then, after the territorial gains in the 2nd half of 2022, the hope was that Ukraine could repeat those successes in 2023 by outmaneuvering RuZZian defenses. That was so because it was thought there was no way Ukraine could fight RuZZia toe-to-toe in a battle of attrition.

Of course, Ukraine's counteroffensive didn't work out as expected, so they went back to striking RuZZians from afar and shoring up their own defenses.

So far, it seems to be working.
