No country has ever defeated an insurgency forever. Interestingly, military strategists like Dr. Wilson, don't advocate terrorism, but will acknowledge that terrorism is a rational strategy that small countries can use against large nations. See: Chapter 22 Terrorism as Strategy

I knew that and predicted 9/11 several years before it happened when my mom and I were discussing the first attack on the WTC.

Guerilla warfare is also a rational response by smaller countries.

The Jews in Warsaw used tunnels to fight back against the German Nazis. The Vietnamese used tunnels effectively.

In fact I'll predict now Hamas cannot be defeated and will eventually double or triple in size over the next 20 years. No brainer. Israel is their best recruiter everywhere in the Middle East.

Israel could have defeated Hamas if they'd spent some of the quarter trillion we gave them improving the lives of Palestinians... but Netanyahu needs war and death to survive politically.
