Hearing Aids???

I'm certain a very large number of posters/lurkers on this board wear hearing aids. I've needed them for about 6-7 years now. Mine are provided by the VA and I've been told they are top of the line. My problem seems to be an ability to detect, or actually hear sound rather well, but the message is often too muffled to be understood. My VA audiologist told me the new aids I got several months ago are tuned to help with this problem. Nevertheless, I still have a great deal of trouble with discernment. Netflix movies are often so muffled that I just give up, even with the captions on (which is 100% of the time). Fast dialog is just about impossible to follow as the captions can't keep up. People who continue wearing a mask may as well try sign language on me, which I couldn't follow either.

I searched SI for a subject where this problem might have been discussed to no avail. Hoping some more experienced hearing aid wearers are lurking and might have suggestions for this problem.
