<<Absolutely priceless data that greatly increases forecast accuracy. >>

Yet there are numerous aircraft crashes that have the weather as a major factor.

Do you even know what an occluded front is? Clue: It's something not at ground level.

The surface pressure is determined by the air column above it. It is a measurement in the third dimension silly.

Who on earth told you weather or forecasts are two dimensional, were you asleep in class that day?

Did they teach you anything about clouds? I am beginning to wonder.

A surface pressure map tells an educated forecaster 95% or more what is happening in the air above the area in question.

You need to re read this post. The area map of weather stations is two dimensional. "XY". The pressure is a measurement of the air above it "Z".

No doubt modern aircraft technology can minutely measure the data at a lot of points, but you still need a brain to process and digest the data. In many cases a pilot would say " at Z height, at position XY, the barometric pressure is A, the wind direction is B, and strength C." A ground observer may well say, in absence of such data, "Well I could have told you that within a few percent".

You need to re read this post.
