Jeff, Mitchell,

I think your question as to what direction comapnies will go when it comes to choosing the y2k company that best suits their needs in the CA languages is answered quite succinctly by the press release today concerning the Navy(The Naval Ordinance Center) and its choice of the CACI/IAIC/CA triad. You have read the release posted on a previous message. There are some key statement s that are made-not the least of which is the rep. of the Navy saying that it was a very cost effective way to go. That had been a question posed in earlier posts and it is being answered by those who are paying the bills. The Navy is not the first branch of the armed forces that IAIC has started work for in the y2k area-the Air Force has been working with IAIC for some time now and has repeatedly said how happy they were with the results. It would indicate to me that the other branches of the Armed Forces are looking to IAIC as the y2k company to work with. I am also under the impression that these initial contracts are just the beginning of the work load that IAIC/CA /CACI will be getting from those particular agencies. Quite often the first agreements are small in nature to see how the program runs and then they grow as it is shown that the solution is the"real deal". In the case of the Air Force that was the case and they are now in later phases of the program. It would seem that the results are coming back very positive or the Navy would have been warned off-yet they are getting on board-so I am not concerned about the company(s) that Mr. Himelfarb has mentioned as a possible competitor(s).
It is also of import that IAIC has a tool that can be used in house or in a factory setting-allowing for greater flexibility and choice by companies- some of which may want some of both. I think we can look to further announcements in the near future and before long the #'s will be multiplying at a rapid rate-of course that is just one man's opinion.
Have a good day .
