I heard Bill Griffith talking about the logo recently. He seemed (appropriately) to be apologizing for it. The rational for the logo is that, shortly, there will be hundreds of channels available. CNBC management wants the viewer to know instantly that they are watching CNBC. Almost all other networks have their little logos in the corner (CBS has the eye, Sci-Fi has Saturn, etc.). The fault in this logic, however, is that other networks don't pass valuable information along the bottom of the screen.

Perhaps a compromise position could be arranged where the stupid logo is placed elsewhere on the screen, where it wouldn't pre-empt the ticker.
