Earnings .74 diluted, 2-for-1.
Having missed estimates by just two cents,
Dell will not have to make any excuses, though
business reporters will site sub $1000 machines,
weakness overseas, and the "fully hedged"
position with respect to foreign currencies--Dell
not being less able to take advantage of falling
component prices.

Now before all you Dell bulls start flaming me, let
me at least say that my guess is totally uninformed,
it is a total crapshoot. I did get a few puts today,
but I have no real conviction...I've watched MSFT,
AOL, DELL soar up up and away and every time
I thought this wacky market would top out, up
they would go again. I am glad you are all getting
rich on Dell--when you take your profits and end
up paying more taxes than me, I will thank you
again.

Now having said that, I will try to at least defend
the purchase of my puts--Dell machines cost too
much! This bull market will end someday, and any
straw could break the camel's back. Will it be poor
Dell earnings? Why not. Everybody builds PC's and
servers now--yes maybe Dells are really good, but...

(to be continued--after earnings, when I'll be happy
to eat crow, or gloat)
