Geez this board is dead. Dying pretty much like all of SI.

JKRowling. I never read her Harry Potter books but the fact that she was able to get so many pre-teens and teens to read books is a wonderful achievement.

After the HP series of books she started a detective series of novels for grownups. Those I have read. She used the name Robert Gailbraith for those books. So far there are seven!!

I just finished the last one a couple of weeks ago. The audio version. 35 hours, thats a long book.

The hero is a British soldier who lost his leg in Afganistan and became a private detective. Running after bad guys is a problem.

He hires a temp secretary for office duties who quickly becomes his partner in the detective agency.

The plots are all whodunits featuring a large cast of character that must all be interviewed to find the bad apple. Standard fare for detectives.

A side issue is the romantic relationship between the two partners, Sigh, its complicated. By book seven the affair hasn't been consumated yet. Maybe in the next book.

The one book I didn't much like was book six. It was all about internet gaming. Maybe she was trying to appeal to a younger audience. Pages and pages of internet talk by people with made up names. Kinda like SI.
