Actually, CA is just as divided as the US. My brother who lives in Napa and our recently deceased first cousin who lived in the mountains to get out of the smoke from burning fields in the Central Valley, couldn't talk politics with each other, PERIOD. As a moderate in the middle, I could talk SOME with the Napa liberal if I was careful to not say anything positive about Trump.

In California, the pigeons flock to where they get free food and there are all sorts of organizations that get taxpayer money to feed them (if you get my drift). Then there are the rural and mountain areas that wear the read hats. Obviously, open borders bring more in who have children here that are automatic citizens who vote for more handouts for their parents who.... yadda yadda... you know the drill. As a result, CA votes to the far left and the GOP seldom wins anything...

I vowed in college as a renter in Berkeley in the late 1970s with my own apartment that after I graduate, I'd NEVER live in Berkeley, Palo Alto or San Francisco as the voters there were idiots. In the 70s we had to call the Berkeley bums "Street People" and now the PC term is "unhoused". The idiots there are STILL arguing over letting the liberal university build student housing on its land that is called "People's Park" which has been an unsafe shooting gallery for 50 years now!

Move away a bit and it gets more libertarian.

Anyway, hard to beat the beauty here. A friend just sent me a link to the webcam of Yosemite today... here is a screen shot.

I think the two sides of the political spectrum forgot how to listen to the other side AND we don't teach much empathy to people these days to see why opposing positions matter to them.
