I personally think the cinnamon Chows are the prettiest of the two colors I've seen (the other being black). Chows are indeed very loyal and protective if they're treated well. I knew this one woman who had two. Both, to my knowledge stayed in her house or the back yard at all times as I don't remember ever seeing them with her anywhere else. One day a friend and I went over to her house. We walked into the back yard when my friend just casually mentioned, "Oh, by the way, don't make any sudden moves towards Sue, or you'll be dog food". What a comforting thought while standing in her back yard and speaking with her. For some reason, I remember keeping the proximity of the yard gate continually in my mind. I can't help but wonder sometimes if it is actually the dog or the stories of the breed which intimidates people most. Usually, when I see a Chow, I keep my distance.
