Most long-running series in the UK would look like drowned rats if they were filmed with the weather as it actually happens. Doesn't make for pretty screen images. Must be a pain for them to sit around and wait for the sky to clear, but the weather is VERY changeable, often rain to sun to rain to sun many times per day (at least in the south where I lived).

The irony is that when they do have a dark and stormy night, it ALWAYS thunders, which is not common there at all. My wife and I both lived there and crack up when we hear that.
