In my day measles was not even a news worthy item. The serious injury / death rate seems to be 1 in a thousand, and that is about the same serious injury rate for the Covid Vaccine. Not many in authority seemed be concerned about the latter. One more interesting factoid is if you have some good ol USD dollars in your pocket, it scares the measles away. No money ? The measles comes an gets you. I would say that is a sanitation / living standard issue also.
