Do you even understand understand thermal runaway? It's what happens when a Tesla catches fire.
  • The Tesla's battery consists of tightly packed cells within a watertight, fire-resistant enclosure.
  • When a single cell fails, it rapidly produces intense heat (up to 1,200°F) and gas.
  • This exothermic reaction multiplies.
  • The heat transfers to neighboring cells, causing a chain reaction.
  • Once a cell fails, it’s impossible to extinguish it directly.
  • It takes several hours to burn out, usually four to six, depending on the number of cells.
