I wasn't aware of Tripp Mickle or the NYT's bias against Apple, though I'm not surprised.

I forgot to mention in my messages about this that I'm sure you're correct. Apple likely learned a lot with all that R&D money spent that will show up in other products down the road. I hope so.

I do question Apple's leadership about the Apple car though, if the $10+ billion figure is correct.

I have to believe Steve Jobs would've either pulled the plug a lot sooner on Project Titan or made it work somehow, even if the focus had to be narrowed. It reminds me of one of his quotes:
“People think focus means saying yes to the thing you've got to focus on. But that's not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I'm actually as proud of the things we haven't done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.”
Really sounds like Apple bit off more than it could chew with the car and had no one at the wheel on the project, so to speak.
