Yes, the Chinese would certainly use an OS they create, and perhaps forced to use in the future. I was referring to entities outside of China and should have stated as much.

After reading the Wiki entry for HarmonyOS, it appears it started as a direct fork of Android, with the programmers removing every instance of the word 'Android' in the code and replacing it with 'HarmonyOS'. The most recent version removes all Android libraries from its code and is not Android compatible.

Huawei is on the U.S. Department of Commerce's Entity List, and as such it has restricted how Huawei can do business with U.S. companies. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

China has growing problems on several fronts. One is that companies outside of China are slowly moving manufacturing to other countries beyond the control of their government, like India. Apple is wisely one of those companies.

Another is that predictions are by the year 2100, China will have a population less than half the size it is now, a drop from 1.4 billion people to 525 million.

China's current economic growth rate is the slowest it has been in three decades and they now have a massive property debt problem, worse than the U.S. faced in 2008.
