Sorry to beat this to death, but this is interesting to me. Apparently TODAY is the deadline for new rules concerning Schedule 13G. Those new rules created the line on the form about "(DATE OF EVENT WHICH REQUIRES FILING OF THIS STATEMENT)". If you're a glutton for punishment you can read about it here:

I couldn't find specifically what goes on the line however. I think that explains why I wasn't seeing it on other form 13Gs. That same site addresses to a limited extent warrants, rights, etc., and their underlying securities. It doesn't explain well enough for me how the reporting rules on them work as far as when a filing is necessary, for instance, when one doesn't own the common shares themselves.
