MeidasTouch has found yet another media manipulated article posted by Trump on Truth Social. This one was also posted on February 29th. This is the 13th altered article uncovered by MeidasTouch in February where Trump shared a news organization’s logo, title, and byline, but had the article scrubbed of content he didn't like.
Trump posted heavily redacted National Review article, scrubbed of unfavorable content Truth Social© Truth Social
Trump's latest article redactions targeted right wing outlet National Review and writer Andrew C. McCarthy. The original article titled, “Trump Gets Partial Relief in Effort to Stop Enforcement of Huge Civil-Fraud Judgment Pending Appeal,” can be found on National Review's webpage here, and Trump’s redacted one page version appears in his Truth Social post above.
Trump also included the word "excerpt" at the top of his manipulated article, which is an inaccurate description of his repacking of articles scrubbed of content he doesn't like. Trump doesn't use "excerpt" all the time, and only appears to include it when the manipulation is quite robust. In this case Trump deleted over 6 paragraphs.

Right wing articles tend to already favor Trump, yet Trump still scrubbed the following unfavorables from the National Review article:
1) A report that Trump could only come up with $100 million for bond when he needed $454 million 2) Trump must post bond in the full amount by March 25th
3) Trump is "not prepared" to pay the penalty 4) Letitia James is permitted to seize Trump's assets 5) Trump was denied a stay of the enforcement of the judgment
6) Trump is able to seek loans to pay his penalty from New York Banks
7) "Lenders will be worried about his future capacity to repay gigantic loans, and about the fact that they would have to compete with judgment-creditors (such as New York state and E. Jean Carroll), who would also be seeking to seize collateral assets if he cannot satisfy his obligations"
8) Trump can still run his company for now, but is subject to monitoring former federal judge Barbara S. Jones who was installed by Engoron and to a "director of compliance"
9) The appellate division will hear Trump's motion March 18th
10) Experts state, "Trump has little chance of prevailing" in court
In summary, Trump scrubbed acknowledgements of the dire nature of his getting his fraud ruling overturned, and his difficulty coming up with the $454 million penalty.
This is the 13th media manipulated article MeidasTouch has uncovered that Trump has posted in February. Once again, Trump’s actions move beyond censorship, creating “fake news” propaganda that changes the original work of reporters to hide information from his Truth Social followers. |
