"Carbon dioxide is a gas that is essential for life on Earth"

Urine is a liquid that is essential for life. Would you go into a pool where 3300 people peed?

"Humans need carbon dioxide to regulate respiration and control blood pH."

I'm impressed; you're about the only one here to venture into physiology. The good news is that the kidneys also play a role in acid-base balance, so we can still have 3300 peeing swimmers.

"However, carbon dioxide is also a greenhouse gas, which means that it traps heat in the atmosphere."

Indeed, and it's trapping a lot, most of which gets stored in the oceans. Right now, a lot of that heat is coming out.
