You missed the point of his lecture.

The point he was making, the thesis, is that humans have become much more intellectually sophisticated in the last hundred years as they have learned to entertain the "hypothetical" of abstract ideas and connect the dots.

We have become much better abstract thinkers through massive education, and a more abstract world, with the outflow of that having been the civil rights movement as we learned to empathize.

And he was not explaining how wars got started, he was explaining how wars got more deadly.

And he did NOT give financial scam artists an approval rating, he said they were guilty of NOT being moral. Watch it again!

He is first a moral philosopher and was explaining how we have gotten more moral.

Flynn gets a plus mark for mentioning how wars get started,

He gave modern financial banker scam artists an approval rating though, strange for someone who says he believes in morals. Flynn scores zero marks there. If anything has held back and contained human development, it's the huge financial scams that have plagued human history. It gotten worse since the beginning of the 20th century, not better.

Charles Dickens was fairly well known as a misogynist, maybe not the right guy to quote on the nature of women.

Flynn is a great believer in the IQ score to the detriment of all other knowledge. People could do arithmetic back then. He should really have talked more about what is missing from peoples intelligence today.

A.I. will be a disaster unless people have the ability and knowledge to control it. Just being dumb recipients of it's outcomes could well spell the end of the human race. I wonder if anyone has that figured out yet?
