Wharfie,
I suspect it's cuz most people would rather jump in the car to drive to McDonald's than wait for a bus or street car.
Exactly. We Americans like the freedom that personal cars give us.

We also like having our own properties, with a real front and back yard. It's all part of the "American Dream" that more and more people see as dead dead dead.

So when China and India continues increasing their respective "carbon shoe sizes," and we ask them, "Hey, can you curtail your CO2 emissions just like we are," they're going to laugh in our faces.

Because the average Chinese and Indian citizen would LOVE to own their own homes, and drive around in cars that are significantly larger than golf carts, and sip their Starbucks while doing all of that "woke" shit like shouting pronouns and pretending that gender is a social construct.

Living amongst immigrants, I can't tell you enough just how lucky we Americans are to have what we have.
