It is important to focus on the fact that Putin is one of the most brutal dictators on the planet, and Trump, head of the Republican, party has called him a strong leader, a genius, and trusted him more than our own intelligence!
The only qualities that PooTin has demonstrated revolve around his own political survival.

He has done an excellent job making up for his disastrous three-day war of choice by taking more control over the RuZZian economy and the RuZZian population.

A weaker leader would have already been deposed by a coup, but not PooTin. He has turned his mistakes and his delusions into a "forever war" that he has successfully sold to his depoliticized and spiritually dead population.

In short, he has successfully turned RuZZia into North Korea.

And for some odd reason, Trump is more turned on by the longevity of PooTin and Kim Jong-un than he is disgusted by the failed states they lead.
