Even the most conservative now recognize Brexit was always destined to be a catastrophic folly.

Geopolitical Forces are Remorselessly Pushing Britain and Europe Back Together, writes Jeremy Warner in The Telegraph, one Britain's most conservative publications.

Singapore's president Tharman Shanmugaratnam, told Warner the Tory's idea of making the UK into a Singapore-on-Thames was always a “ludicrous trope” unsuited to a mature economy like Britain - and of course 'special trade deals' with India and the US are off the table.

Possibly the only thing more ridiculous would be voting in a reality TV show host to become president and expecting positive non-clown results. Which the US accomplished in a sad attempt to outdo Britain's folly.

Economies of scale are relentless and Brexit has switched them into extreme reverse.

There are no promised windfall of funds not sent to the EU to be spent on the NHS, painted on the side of Boris Johnson's big red bus.

Instead, Paul Johnson of the IFS, points out even if Jeremy Hunt were to cut income tax by £7 billion in next week’s budget, the state will have grown by 3 to 4 per cent of national income over this parliament due to negative economies of scale.
