Not sure how much of my talk about options you saw the other week, but as far as I am concerned, options are too complex. I'd rather just deal with the futures. Now I know of people, most notably Cem Karsan (also Andy Constan) who think options are much simpler and easier to get right than anything else.

Interestingly, we all have the same perspective on options. Options reflect the full gamut of the outcomes. So Cem says, options are priced for the whole distribution of the outcomes and figuring out whether something goes up or down is hard, but figuring out the range and distribution is much more practical and easier - think in options. And I agree with him that is what options price, but I don't particularly find that easy to do.

Anyways, if you want to be good at options, forget about the if x then y kind of calculations that most option traders use and instead think in distributions.
