The only thing he's trying to normalize is democracy. Is he overly aggressive? To people who want to go back to the '50's while rooting for Russia, yeah. To people who want citizenship for Dreamers, Bernie's $15 minimum wage, or 1.5 degrees C, no.

"The U.S. Economy’s Rebound Since COVID Is Kind of Incredible. Why Doesn’t Anyone Seem to Realize This?"
It's certainly incredible compared to the rest of the world, but "Look at everybody else" has never been a compelling kitchen table message. People don't remember the intra-covid no-toilet-paper deflation, but they do recall the post-covid inflation, and they don't remember how covid relief inflated their savings account, or maybe kept them from being evicted, but they do remember high prices and the end of the covid eviction freeze reversing that. Some might remember they escaped poverty temporarily after covid, but they won't know that the expanded child tax credit did that. They just know that they're back in poverty, and blame Biden's inflation, rather than the R's who killed the extension. Stock market records? "Who cares?", say everybody who doesn't own any.
-- "And they're too afraid to change the message because they don't want to water down their "progressive" agenda." The message will be "Dobbs, IVF, contraception, democracy, $30 insulin, see you at the groundbreaking, Dobbs." |
