That the job for their school boards
The school boards indoctrinated their students into "saving the planet."

It's all part of the curriculum that is written and approved by the board.

Their students then turn around and campaign for the school boards to pass a resolution, which they will happily do and pretend it came from "grass roots."

Then they'll use this as political leverage in order to get more taxpayer dollars to fund all of the fancy schmancy "eco-friendly" toys to play with, including ...
electric buses, PV on the roof, maybe heat pumps, authorizing gardens, etc.
Some of this does have educational benefit, of course, especially when it comes to inspiring our next generation of engineers.

But if you think this has any more substantial effect than simply "raising awareness" (a phrase that, quite frankly, is overused), then you are fooling yourself.
