My point is that they could easily have made it possible for their Syjet customers to use the SparQ media, which is considerably cheaper than Syjet media (even on a per MB basis). They chose not to, and came out with a product which will compete with the Syjet as much (if not more than) the Jazz drive. I think the SparQ is a great product. It's the fact that it was released on the heals of the just released Syjet, with no cross-compatibility. Don't you think that if the Syjet is their premier product, it should have some significant advantage over the SparQ? i.e. ability to read multiple cartridge formats. Why would anybody spend $100 more (than the SparQ) for a Syjet, just for the priviledge of paying double for cartridges that only hold 50% more data (actually less, since they don't really hold 1.5GB when formatted).

1.5GB vs. 1.0 GB isn't really an order of magnitude difference. They're basically in the same market segment. So you buy three SparQ cartridge's @ $100 (list) to get 3GB instead of buying two Syjet cartridges @ $160 (list) to get the same capacity. What would you do?

Regards,

Joe
