I phoned my broker and asked to take delivery of my Bre-X certificate. I mean, it cost me enough, I might as well have it as an enduring tribute to my own stupidity.

Anyways, he told me that they nolonger issue them, and he gave me the number for Montreal Trust. So, I phoned MT and they confirmed this. "The company's got no money," she said.

So I phoned Deloitte & Touche in Calgary.

The delightful women I spoke with said that she was uncertain about whether or not they'll be in a position to issue the "last" certificates for the company, but that they should have an opinion in the next few weeks.

Question: What is my legal standing here? Do I have an entitlement to that certificate? As I see it, it's my property NOT an asset of the company. Please return my asset, Deloitte!

Thoughts anyone?
