macOS 13.6.6 and 14.4.1, Safari 17.4.1 patch security flaws & bugs

Apple issued large macOS 13, macOS 14, and Safari updates today to patch “important” security flaws [ CVE-2024-1580] that allow arbitrary code execution via malicious images.
Apple also updated earlier release notes with information about the same security flaws patched for iOS, iPadOS and visionOS four days ago when it withheld details.
In addition to these security patches, Apple also patched notable bugs introduced in its macOS 14.4 release.

What’s new in the updates for macOS Sonoma
  • USB hubs connected to external displays may not be recognized
  • Copy protected Audio Unit plug-ins designed for professional music apps may not open or pass validation
  • Apps that include Java may quit unexpectedly
