Ken, Welcome to SI. I still appear on Prodigy now and then when they will allow me to log on. Today is not one of those days. -g-

I like HGSI for the very long haul and it has been higher, slightly, in the past. For my own account, I own a one-third position, which, in analyst terms, I guess we could call it a weak hold. I would buy more in the mid-30s. Part of it may be perception. They have mapped the human genetic system and are selling their data to drug cos. However, the big money comes when a drug is developed and they get royalties, and we are still a ways away from a blockbuster. I am convinced there will be one, but I am also convinced there will be pessimism in the biotechs between now and then and we can probably fill up on this one, Gene and Incy at lower prices.

I think Informix is a decent speculation. Oracle, Imho, is vulnerable, and Informix and Sybase, should they get their acts together, could grab some market share. I still remember when Oracle was considered a slow grower while Informix and Sybase were the more exciting cos. I think we have a shot at seeing that again, but it is a spec and not what I would call a solid investment. If it pays off, you win big. If it doesn't, then, heck, the stock price is already loaded with disappointment, so it will be falling into a pothole, not off a cliff. MB
